Books can be returned to any USC library during the times that they are open, regardless which library you originally checked out the books.

Many USC libraries also have book return slots (or book bins) near their entrances for after-hours returns.

For your convenience, standard circulating materials may also be returned at one of two external locations:

  • Doheny Book Return Bin: DML & McCarthy Quad
  • Leavey Book Return Bin: LVL & West 34th Street

For more information see the Libraries' Access & Borrowing Policies.

Exception: Books borrowed through Interlibrary Loan must be returned directly to Leavey Library.

  1. Can this FAQ answer be updated to indicate which USC Libraries have return bins as well as where exactly one can find the bins? That would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  2. Hi, This FAQ has been updated to indicate where book return bins are located. But pretty much all of the libraries have a slot located near the designated library where you can return a book.
