Medical Subject Headings (MeSH{https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh}) is a free National Library of Medicine (NLM) database of the controlled vocabulary thesaurus used for indexing articles in Pubmed. Books in the health sciences library catalogs and ClinicalTrials.gov also apply MeSH terms to their content. Each article indexed in Pubmed has MeSH terms applied so that those searching with MeSH terms can expect to find every article in Pubmed about that topic, regardless of the wording used by individual article writers. For more instruction on searching using MeSH, see these tutorials.
