There are several databases that identify companies in an industry.
- D&B Hoovers allows for searching of public and private companies globally in major industries.
- Using ReferenceUSA or Mergent Intellect, you can build a list of companies within a specific industry by using industry codes from SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) or NAICS (North American Industry Classification System).
- Use Mint Global or Mergent Online to compile industry-based company lists on a global level (regional or country filtering is available).
