References for diagnostic manuals follow the format for books, and references for entries in diagnostic manuals follow the format for edited book chapters.

Visit the APA 7th edition research guide to find examples for citing books.

The APA style website includes in-text and reference examples for the DSM. If you have the APA manual, sections 10.2 and 10.3 cover diagnostic manuals.

If you are citing an entry from the DSM-5 then you can use the formatting for chapters in edited books
